Osteopathy in Kent, Medway Towns, Chatham, Rochester, Strood, Gillingham. City Way Health Clinic

City Way Health Clinic has a team of 6 highly qualified and skilled Osteopaths at our Rochester clinic in Medway who treat people of all ages to alleviate pain and improve mobility.

Osteopathy looks at the body as a whole, finding the root cause of the symptoms to treat your condition correctly and give you long lasting results. Uniquely, osteopathy does not treat any part of the body in isolation and instead explores the structure of the body, exploring how the best to treat the person in order to give them long term relief. Most commonly, Osteopaths will treat back pain, but many conditions are improved by Osteopathy such as migraine, sports and work related injury, pregnancy and post-natal strains, digestive problems, unsettled babies, arthritis and muscle and ligament injuries.

Our Osteopaths encourage the natural healing ability of the body, correcting the abnormalities in its structure and helping it function more effectively. Osteopathy is a safe, natural and non-invasive treatment tailored to the individual patient.

A Recognised, Proved and Effective form of Treatment

City Way Health Clinic is an NHS Referral Clinic for Musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopathy is an established, recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that focuses on the structural integrity and function of the body. It is recognised by the British Medical Association as a discrete clinical discipline and The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommends spinal manipulation and acupuncture as a treatment for low back pain. It is distinctive in the fact it is holistic and recognises that a lot of the pain and discomfort we feel is derived from changes in the function of the body's structure as well as damage caused by disease.

All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and must adhere to strict practice standards issued by the GOsC.

What to expect on your first visit

When you come to visit the Osteopath, a full case history will be taken and you will have the opportunity to discuss your condition or pain. The Osteopath will then examine you and ask you to carry out some simple movement in order to arrive at a diagnosis.

The Osteopath will help you to understand the diagnosis before carrying out any treatment which will again be explained in detail. Osteopaths use many different techniques including joint articulation to release tension, soft tissue massage, stretching muscles, gentle manipulations to help mobilise joints and relieve pain.

Your Osteopath will offer you advice and an exercise plan in order for you to be proactive about your recovery. If the Osteopath feels that you need further investigation, they will refer you to your GP or for further scans or testing. The Osteopath will clearly explain how many treatments will likely be needed when you come for consultation.
